The Beach

The Beach

It was a long drive but I was finally at the beach! As I took out my surf board I got ready to go down to the water. Once I was ready I walked down to the water I saw a really cool rock in the shape of a heart. As soon as my feet touched the water, a shiver went down my spine, it was freezing! but I forced myself to go into waist deep water.Once i got used to the coldness, I ran out into the deep blue, my surfboard by my side. the next thing I knew, I was swept under a wave, so I ditched my board and dived! when I was above the water it took me a second to realize what had just happened.
By 12:30 I looked at my watch, it's lunch time already! I said to my self and off I went.

My Painting

My Painting!

My ocean was the colour I wanted it to be, it’s like the best blue I could make for the sea.
It turned out how I wanted it except the pier,
I think it would look better if the pier was more on a slant and a little bit shorter, and my clouds didn’t turn out how I wanted them to turn out.
The artist's style I copied was simple and I made mine simple like the artist’s but the sky is not simple. :(
I’m not sure what I'm going to do for my next painting but I will try another artist’s style.

Hate

Hate

Hate is black!
It like burnt toast!
Hate smells like dead roses!
It looks like a broken heart!
Hate sounds like people arguing!
It feels like someone punching you!

Love

Love

love is bright red!
It tastes like sweet peas!
Love smells like roses!
It looks like hearts jumping for joy!
Love sounds like children laughing!
I feels like someone giving you a hug!

What You Need To Know About Blogging

Battle bots

Battle bots!

First Elizabeth (our RISE team teacher) told us we were going to make a battle bot on top of a spero ( a battle bot is a cup connected to a piece of thin cardboard decorated, and a spero is a little ball that you can move with a ipad). Elizabeth showed us how to connect the cup to the card then set us off to make and create a battle bot. Eartha and I made a unicorn battle bot , we coloured our base stuck on the eyes, ears, nose and unicorn horn. Everyone only had about an hour to make and create our battle bot. And at the end we put on a balloon and a pin to pop other balloons in the balloon popping arena.

I learnt that spero’s are like robots that are controlled by ipads and that they are hard to control.

After testing our battle bot we didn’t change anything on our plan because we liked it the way it was and it was easy driving the battle bot.

It worked out when I did one thing and Eartha did something else. Eg. I stuck the eyes on and Eartha coloured the base.

Next time I think we could maybe choose a different animal to be our battle bot to pop other balloons the battle bot balloon popping arena.

Me and Eartha worked really well together to make our battle bot it was a load of fun!

The Resilience values that we used were Success, Resilience
       Integrity                                          and Empathy.
       Success
       Empathy
It was quite a challenge but we got through it!

My Science Reflection

Science With Kathy

Science with Kathy was really fun because we did lots of experiments. I'll tell you about one of them; Magic Milk is a plate full of milk, 2 drops of one food colouring then 2 drops of different food colouring. Also dish washing liquid on a cotton ball thing. Dip the cotton ball thing into dish washing liquid and then put it in the middle of the milk. The coloured milk will be pushed away by the dishwashing liquid!

My Science

At the end of all the science( levers and pulleys) term with Alison, Alison put her kaiawhina into groups of three (me, Isla and Meg)  we got to do our own little obstacle course for a marble. It was really fun to make but it didn’t work. This is all three of us working hard to try to make it work:

Rarotonga

Rarotonga

In the southern hemisphere Rarotonga is in a group of islands called the cook islands located in the South pacific Ocean, in the continent Oceania. The population in Rarotonga is about 14,153 people (2015), that's not that much!

The three official languages in Rarotonga are: Cook Islands Maori witch most people speak in Rarotonga. Lots of people also speak English and sign language.

The capital city of Rarotonga is Avarua, and sadly there are no other main cities in Rarotonga. The highest mountain in Rarotonga is Mount Te Manga.

The native animals in Raro are pigs (so cute), goats(also cute), and dogs(adorable). Fish are also a part of Rarotonga as well because lots of people love to go snorkeling at the beach. There is also a main native flower in Rarotonga and is called Tiare Maori.

The main sport in Rarotonga is rugby and is played a lot and people love to watch them play rugby, lots of little kids like to gather up and play little games of rugby. The second main sport is netball also lots of people like to watch and play the sport as well.

Rarotonga is an amazing place to go to on a holiday and Rarotongan people are known to be very friendly!

The Box

The Box

The old man named Jack was on his old lounge chair waiting he knew there was a mouse in the house.
He had set a trap it was a box with a stick to hold it up. Jack was too old so I couldn't use a mouse trap,
they it was confusing -for him. The little mouse creeped across the floor up the rubbish bag it looked
back the old Jack hid quickly. The little mouse continued to look around, it went closer to the trap that
Jack had set, the mouse went around the box the slowly went inside. The stick didn’t fall one second,
two seconds and finally it fell down trapping the little mouse. Jack jumped off the old lounge chair and
danced into the kitchen he was so excited he did some more happy dances, then he turned around
suddenly he felt sorry for the little mouse. He looked around then saw his window, just as he was
thinking about it the little box with the mouse inside. Jack needed to have something underneath to
move the mouse to the window he looked around again and saw his news paper from that day,
but because he was holding the box Jack couldn’t reach the newspaper he tried and tried and finally
reached the newspaper and slipped it underneath the box then walked to the window, he opened the
window… Then he heard a cat then took the mouse back inside he couldn’t put the mouse outside with
a cat!

He went into his lounge, he didn’t know what to do. He went into the kitchen pulled out a sharp tool for
cooking slowly walked back into the lounge with the tool, he lifted it up high and… slowly put little
breathing holes in the little box then admired his work. Then ran off looked around and came back with
food and water for the mouse. Jack then poured some water into the bottle top and checked to see if
there was too much water or too little water in the bottle top, after he put the bottle cap on table and slid
it under the box. Jack then sat there, after awhile he took the crunchy crackers he had for the little
mouse, he ate one cracker and the biggest crumb left he gave to the little mouse through the biggest
hole in the top of the box. Then he waited for a bit then all of a sudden the little crumb popped back up
out of the box! Jack sat there thinking what was he supposed to do?!

The lod Jack put his hands on the table looked closer and lifted the box and there was the mouse with
his arms crossed looking away from the old man like he knew Jack was going to lift the box! The little
mouse looked at Jack, then Jack looked behind him like the mouse was looking at someone else, the
little mouse wasn’t. Jack looked down he really felt sorry for the little mouse now. Jack pushed the
crumb back towards the mouse, the mouse turned away again. The little mouse heard the old man
then pick up the crumb and turned around to see what Jack was doing, Jack was pretending to eat the
crumb but he actually had it in his hand the whole time! The mouse looked sad when Jack pretended to
eat it but then magic whooshes around his hand that still had the crumb in then he opened his hand like
it was a magic trick for the mouse. The mouse was amazed, then Jack put the crumb in front of the l
ittle mouse, the little mouse slowly walked toward the crumb, sniffed it then ran back to where the
mouse was standing and turned around. Jack tried to pat the little mouse but the little mouse
scampered away. Jack looked sad,he didn’t mean to scare the mouse, he just sat there. Later on in the night the tv was on he was sitting on his chair pretending to be asleep he had food beside him on the table next to him, he had also put some crumbs on his shoulder hoping the mouse would come back. The mouse was behind the tv watching and waiting, the little mouse crept up the chair to the old man and slowly onto his shoulder then the mouse saw some crumbs and ate one then crep down. When the little mouse had gone Jack smiled. THE END!

Kids Teach

Kids Teach

Kids teach is where the kids that want to teach others fill out a sheet about what they
want to teach, then the kids that didn’t fill out a sheet get to choose what they want to
learn and our teacher signs our name up on the computer. It happens every Friday but
with winter sport it hasn't been happening.

When I did kids teach I learnt dance with my friends Isla and Meg. I learn lots of moves
and they were good at teaching. The next week me and Brooke taught a drawing group
(I only helped out because Dasha was away) . We drew lots of things it was a heap of fun.
We helped the other six kids when they needed help.

It was helpful because the kids that I worked with when I was teaching were very quiet
and they didn’t moan when it was time to pack up, and  when they couldn't do something
they just asked for help.

The kids that I worked with like how they could look on YouTube at pictures that they
want to try and draw. When I was learning dance I like how we could do all these dance
moves that I've never seen before.

I don’t think we could change anything to make kids teach even better.

I think we should do it again because it was a load of fun that everyone loved.

The Kakapo

The kakapo

The kakapo is a flightless bird called a parrot. It is a herbivore.

The kakapo is green with a bit of black and brown. It has two legs and
two wings. It also has a beak like all other birds.

The kakapo is a mountain parrot that lives here in NewZealand up in the
mountains. The kakapo is too heavy to get airborne because it's the
world's heaviest bird at 4kg! So it climbs trees instead, thats why
its flightless.

The kakapo is nocturnal but sometimes wakes up before sunset, it uses
its whiskers in the dark to get around. It eats the rimu tree seeds
high up in the tree. The kakapo breed once every 4 years when a
certain tree produces something called bumpacrup that help them
breed. That's why they breed slower than any other bird. The kakapo
is a long living bird that can sometimes live up to hundred years!

In 1899 charlie douglas found out that the kakapo can be caught by
shaking the tree or bush until it falls down and be caught!

This photo is of the finished catapult

This is our (mine and Eartha's) catapult that we made from 6 Popsicle sticks, 6 rubber bands, 1 spoon and 1 cotton ball. We made this in our science class about levers and pulleys. the fulcrum is in the middle holding it all together.

Cherry lip gloss

I was inside the shop I didn't know what to pick that was small that I could just fit
in my pocket. The cool kids were just outside the door waiting for me to come out.
They had all told me they had stolen something from this shop. I had to do it to
get into the cool kids group. They were banging on the window and mouthing the
words “hurry up” to me. There were three things that were small enough to fit in
my pocket. One was a few pegs tied together, a balloon and some cherry lip gloss.
The best choice was the cherry lip gloss so I slipped it into my pocket and headed
out the door the girls weren’t there oh well I said. Just when I got out the door the
lady stopped me the cherry lip gloss fell out of my pocket and onto the footpath,
the lady didn’t notice but I did, I didn’t bother trying to pick it up because I
would get caught. The lady walked me back into her shop. “ I knew there was
something suspicious about those girls” she said. At that moment I wished I was
just a cherry lip gloss on the side of the footpath.
THE END

My Mothers Day Poem

I hope you like my mothers day poem!

You are my sunshine, warming me every morning.
You are as bright as a light, shining away the dark.
You are an ocean, washing bad things away.
You are a cuddly teddy bear, hugging me when I’m sad.
You are a rainbow, with colours of joy.
You are a genie in a bottle, granting all my wishes.
You are a clown telling me new jokes.
You are my Mother!

Camp Reflection

Camp reflection

My favorite activity was The giant swing because I went up to level three and it went so
high my stomach dropped and I had butterflies.  I made a connection with Lucy because
we were both in group five with bailey and some other kids. My favorite meal was
definitely Cottage pie on Monday night, it was so yummy with the peas and carrots.
I challenged myself when I went on the giant swing up to level three and I was so scared.
When I got home I unpacked and the sat on the couch to watch some television and eat dinner.
