Times tables test

Today our class did a times table test.

I got 97% of the questions right. My goal that I am at right now is accuracy and fluency - 95% correct within 10 minutes. The goal I am working towards is fluency - 95% correct within 5 minutes. I need to learn my 6 and 7 times tables.

So far this year for P.E. we have done:

Surfing, on Wednesday the 17th of February we went out to the beach and caught a few waves. The surf was not very high and so it was good for people that have never surfed.

Zumba, as I told you in one of my other blog posts, it is really fun and there are a lot of different dances that you can learn. We do Zumba in the morning.

Running around the bike track, in the morning for fitness we usually run a few laps round the bike track, also sometime we line up in a line of ten people and we have to stay in the line they whole way round the bike track. We do this before Zumba in the morning.

Pulling tyres, sometimes instead of running around the bike track we have to pull tyres halfway across the bike track then have some relay races.

Swimming, At school in the morning  and sometimes in the afternoon, we go swimming in the school pool. Most of the time we do laps of the pool, and on Fridays we usually get to have a free swim.

Kelly sport, I have only been to Kelly sport once this year but it was fun. The time seemed to fly by. We played all in tag, octopus, and a couple more games that I can't remember. I hope we get to do Kelly sport a lot more.

Tech

 Tech is short for technology for those who don't know. Tech is something that the seniors go on the bus to every Thursday morning. We have to be at the bus stop at 8:30 and everyone boards the bus. The drive to Linwood college is about 20 minutes, and sitting on the bus is fun. When we get to tech we line up in our classes then go into our rooms. For my first class I have sewing, then we have some morning tea, then we go into our second class and my second class is electronics. After our two classes we line up, get onto the bus and drive back to school, we get back to school around the end of second break (12:45). Once we get to class we say our karakia and then have our lunch.

Zumba

 Zumba is a fun dancing video that you dance along to and follow the people on the screen. I have done Zumba in 2020 and I really liked it so I am glad that everyone in this class likes it the same way I do. If you look up 'Zumba kids' on you tube it will come up with a lot of different videos and they are really good. I  encourage lots of other kids to have some fun and get dancing!

What I thought about Tangaroa:

 I think that Tangaroa has a lively spirit and they are ready to do anything. The thing I like most is how everyone loves Zumba (dancing to music), because I love it too!

My first week in Tangaroa

 For the first week in Tangaroa I was excited and nervous. I had new classmates, some new friends and I was in a new class. The first week (which was 3 days + the goal settings meeting), had gone fast but I was loving the teachers and the new routine so I was (and I still am) happy. I also can't believe I am a yr 7! I hope all the other yr 7's in the school feel the same way I feel right now: happy, excited and a whole other emotions!

 The start of the school year was exciting, there were new people that I didn't recognize, year 8's from last year, and the old year 6's that are now year 7's. It was a new school year with new people and new routines.  We were welcomed inside and took a look around the classroom I was going to be in.  I got my goal settings paper, my surfing paper and my technology paper that I needed to fill out. Before I could fill my papers in, the teachers started to tell some of the class about themselves and their background of their life. It took maybe, less than half an hour for the teachers to tell us about themselves. I started to fill out the papers and then handed them in when I finished them. After an hour of being at school it was time to head home. I was nervous but excited about the school year ahead of me.
